Exco InTouch gives insights in mHealth solutions for clinical research at mHealth Summit

12 December 2013

Exco InTouch, a provider of patient engagement and data capture solutions, took part in a session on mHealth Solutions for patient-centric clinical trials at the annual mHealth Summit in Washington DC this week.

The Exco InTouch session examined the ways mobile and mobile-enabled technology are changing clinical research across all trial phases and driving the adoption of a patient-centric and outcomes-based model for health care.

Delegates were informed how mobile health solutions — from apps and sensors through to health management platforms — are reducing trial costs, improving patient recruitment and retention, and facilitating real-time data capture for analysis.

Industry leaders including Tim Davis, CEO and Co-Founder of Exco InTouch, together with Craig Lipset, Clinical Innovation, Pfizer and Matt Hendricks, Principal, Pharmica Consulting, drove the session. They presented real case studies and discussed opportunities for the utilization of mobile technology in support of adaptive trials to improve trial efficiency while maintaining quality and compliance — from patient-reported outcomes through to remote monitoring of therapeutic use, response and adherence.

Tim Davis highlighted three case studies including triggering responses in vaccine safety surveillance, capturing events in cardiovascular outcomes and advancing community health models. He commented: “mHealth programs are having a highly transformational impact in terms of making patient reported outcomes in clinical trials highly efficient with significant improvements to both performance and clinical implementation.”
