BioCity Scotland appoints new board member

BioCity Scotland, the centre for life science businesses in Newhouse, Lanarkshire established earlier this year, has announced the appointment of Dr Allison Jeynes-Ellis MB ChB, FFPM as a new Board member.

Formerly Medical and Innovation Director with the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, Dr Jeynes-Ellis will assume the position in September 2012.

Dr Jeynes-Ellis has over twenty years industry experience as an oncology specialist. Following an early career in the NHS, she had medical positions with Ciba Pharmaceuticals, Bristol Myers Squibb and Wyeth, UK and Ireland. In 2005 Dr Jeynes-Ellis became an independent pharmaceutical consultant before moving to the ABPI in 2009. She subsequently returned to consulting.

Dr Allison Jeynes-EllisAs a Board member, Dr Jeynes-Ellis will support Chairman Dr Louis J Nisbet and recently-appointed Managing Director Fraser Black in bringing bioscience and life sciences companies to the 9 ha site.

 BioCity Scotland has already welcomed seven companies to the site and has the support of six commercial partners including lawyers, accountants and intellectual property advisers. A variety of visitors has already passed through the busy campus including HRH The Princess Royal, international business delegations, and local school students eager to learn more about a career in science.

Commenting on her appointment Dr Jeynes-Ellis said, I am delighted to be part of this exciting opportunity for Scotland, as I strongly believe that BioCity Scotland can be instrumental in driving Scotland’s continued success and further growth within the life science sector.

The existing BioCity Scotland board members are Dr Louis J. Nisbet (Chairman); Dr Glenn Crocker, CEO BioCity Group; Malcolm Bateman, CEO Roslin BioCentre; Ian Webster and Fraser Black, Managing Director BioCity Scotland.
