NHS NIHR to fund development of new medical devices — apply by 7 Dec 2011

The NHS National Institute for Health research has launched a call for proposals to develop innovative healthcare products for the improvement of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease in the NHS.

This programme, which is called Invention for Innovation (i4i) funds projects through prototype and commercial development until a device or technology is ready for clinical testing.

NIHR has funds of £13m for 2011-12 to fund awards for 1-3 years. Invited full applications are assigned to one of two Selection Panels (Early-stage and Late-stage) for assessment.

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday 7th December.
