19 April 2011
Orthopaedic device manufacturer Sheffield Precision Medical
Ltd (SPML) has expanded production following record interest in its
services.
The company provides made-to-order, specialist & bespoke
orthopaedic instruments and disposable instruments.
The company recently travelled to the American Academy of
Orthopaedic Surgeons conference to source new business, enhance
connections with large US companies and expand their global
portfolio.
The conference inspired SPML to invest in new machinery,
including a ten-axis sliding head machine, a 5-axis machining
centre, new dual line passivation, additional laser welding facility
and specialist work holding devices.
Managing Director Brian Reece said: “It’s been very encouraging
for us to be able to invest in new high-tech cutting edge machinery
and to expand our existing product portfolio. We are constantly
evolving, expanding and increasing our global reach.
“I am very pleased with the company progress which is not least
of all due to the highly skilled and well motivated team of which I
am proud to be a part. It is great to part of the resurgence in
manufacturing and the experience such uplift against the backdrop of
a difficult recessionary time.”
The company works with multi-national OEMs who provide implants
and instrumentation to hospitals and health professionals worldwide.
Formerly Finsbury Surgical Ltd, Sheffield Precision Medical is now
independently owned.
