NEC adds 27" wide-format screen to MDView medical imaging range

26 Oct 2010

NEC Display Solutions is adding the MDView271 colour monitor to its MDview series of screens for medical viewing.

The 3.7-megapixel wide-format LCD screen allows two or more medical images to be viewed simultaneously thanks to its 27-inch size and a powerful picture-by-picture function.

This makes it an alternative to dual-screen solutions consisting of two independent screens.

The high quality image is provided by a professional 10-bit P-IPS (performance in-plane switching) panel with an extended colour space and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The MDview271 is ideal for viewing CT or MRI images, nuclear medical sectional images or ultrasound images and meets the requirements for PACS Clinical workstations.

HIS (hospital information system) and RIS (radiology information system) applications will also benefit from the ability to display several data windows over the large viewing area.

With the MDview271 NEC Display Solutions is setting a new standard in the field of medical image viewing. This model, which comes with a factory-installed DICOM curve, offers a number of professional features for first-class image quality.

Three 14-bit lookup tables (LUT), individually programmable for each RGB signal makes it possible to calibrate the monitor in accordance with the DICOM Part 14 GSDF standard. In addition, NEC Digital Uniformity Control ensures maximum uniform colour reproduction while NEC Backlight Ageing Correction ensures that image quality remains stable over the long term. The GammaComp MD QA client software that comes with the monitor and an optional photometer make it easy to perform regular individual DICOM calibrations and conformance tests.

The MDview271's large 27-inch working area increases the number of possible display variations and has a positive effect on the user's productivity. In general, great importance has been attached to ergonomics. The monitor is height-adjustable up to 150 mm, can be viewed in landscape and in portrait mode and can also be rotated, tilted and swivelled. These functions mean it can be adjusted to match all individual requirements.
