Sebia launches Capillarys 2 Flex Piercing for diagnostics labs
5 March 2010
Sebia has unveiled the latest addition to its automated
capillary electrophoresis portfolio, the innovative Capillarys 2 Flex
Piercing for clinical diagnostic laboratories.
Based on the proven technology of the original Capillarys
instrument, the new system features cap piercing for analysis of
whole blood directly from primary sample tubes.
For haemoglobinopathy testing, the new cap-piercing capability
streamlines workflow and maximises biohazard safety. Once primary
sample tubes are loaded onto the system, the sample rack is gently
inverted to ensure whole blood samples remain homogeneous and
produce accurate results. Positive sample identification ensures
full traceability from primary tube to final result.
Chris Plows, general manager of Sebia UK, commented: “We are very
pleased with the improved capabilities Capillarys 2 Flex Piercing
offers clinical laboratories. Our R&D experts have developed a
system that allows haemoglobinopathy testing to be carried out on
the same platform as protein analysis, direct from primary sample
tubes.”
In addition to haemoglobin variant analysis, the comprehensive
menu includes tests for serum and urine proteins, immunotyping,
carbohydrate-deficient transferrin, as well as high-resolution
immunofixation. With eight simultaneous migrations and a throughput
of 34 haemoglobin samples and 80 protein samples an hour, Capillarys
helps Biomedical Scientists provide fast, precise results.
