Vanguard Healthcare to exhibit mobile operating theatres at Medica

2 November 2009

Vanguard Healthcare, the world’s largest supplier of mobile operating theatres and day surgery units, is to exhibit at Medica for the first time.

A 25-tonne laminar flow mobile operating theatre will be delivered by road from the UK to Dusseldorf in Germany for the start of the world’s biggest medical conference on November 18th.

A team of logistical and operational staff will be accompanying the vehicle which will be on display to 136,000 international visitors who are expected to attend the tradeshow.

Chief Executive Ian Gillespie said it was an exciting time for UK- based Vanguard Healthcare, which recently underwent a management buyout from Nuffield Health.

"We have a fantastic track record of working with the NHS and UK-based healthcare providers as we provide rapid cost-effective solutions which can cut waiting times, provide cover during building refurbishment and provide capacity solutions in times of emergency,” he said.

“Exhibiting at Medica is an exciting step for us as we are now introducing our state-of-the-art units to a wider audience. Healthcare providers across Europe are learning from our work in the UK that the creative use of mobile healthcare services can help solve many modern day healthcare challenges.”

With 36 units, the Vanguard mobile fleet is the largest of its kind in the world and these are now being made available to hospitals across Europe. Dubbed the National Fleet among UK healthcare professionals, it includes mobile theatres, wards, clinics, endoscopy and day surgery facilities.
