Materialica design and technology awards programme 2009 announced

31 January 2009

MunichExpo Veranstaltungs GmbH has announced the MATERIALICA Design + Technology Awards programme for 2009. The award will be presented at MATERIALICA the 12th international trade fair for material applications, surfaces, and product engineering in Munich from October 13-15, 2009.

The award is granted to concepts characterized by superior achievements in terms of innovation, design or engineering in the categories Material, Surface + Technology and Product, and also since 2008 in the category CO2 efficiency.

With the introduction of the new CO2 category the prize donators are reacting to special issues that climatic changes and environmental pollution pose to companies and developers alike. This year also there is a MATERIALICA Student Award that comes with prize money of €1,500.00.

Designers, material developers, engineers, manufacturers and students are invited to participate in this award. The main focal point of this award is on medical technology, aerospace, automotive, engineering, energy management, sports and technical consumer goods. By participating in this award, enterprises can outline their innovative competence and gain a valuable marketing instrument to position their products on the market more successfully.

The award seeks to outline the importance of materials for industrial design-oriented applications and to encourage a dialog between designers, material manufacturers, product manufacturers and engineers.

The winners will be selected by an independent specialist jury that also grants a Best of Award in each category. The Best of Award winners will be announced during the trade fair MATERIALICA (October 13 through 15, 2009) in a festive award ceremony. All awarded products will be presented effectively during the entire course of the trade fair at the MATERIALICA Design Show.
