Agfa HealthCare appoints new head of IT division

Agfa HealthCare has appointed Dr Volker Wetekam as its new Executive Vice President for its global HealthCare IT division. Dr Wetekam will head up an operation of around 3,000 staff members and report directly to Christian Reinaudo, President of Agfa HealthCare. He will take up his new position on 15 September, 2008.

In his new role, Volker Wetekam will define and implement the overall strategic positioning and roadmap for Agfa HealthCare's IT division, which manages both the company's Imaging Informatics and its Enterprise IT business, covering solutions from picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) over cardiovascular information systems (CVIS) to hospital and clinical information systems (HIS/CIS). He will be responsible for driving the division's overall profitable growth. Dr Wetekam will also become a permanent member of the HealthCare organization's Executive Committee.

Dr Wetekam has been with Siemens Medical Solutions since 1994. He  has held the position of Head of Siemens Medical Solutions' Managed Services, Turnkey, eHealth, and Consulting business in Healthcare since October, 2004. Additionally, he has been responsible for the Siemens Medical Solutions Corporate CRM activities in the Healthcare sector. Prior to this position, from September 2003 onward, he headed up the company's global IT Marketing organization out of Philadelphia, USA.

Dr Wetekam will be based both in Mortsel, Belgium, at Agfa HealthCare's global headquarters, and in Bonn, Germany, at Agfa HealthCare's largest IT site.
