Sectra launches low-radiation MicroDose mammography system

Stockholm, Sweden. Sectra (STO:SECTB) has launched a new model of its full-field digital mammography system. The Sectra MicroDose Mammography model has a completely new design and can be equipped with a stereotactic add-on for clinical examinations. The company claims it provides the lowest radiation dose on the market.

Sectra MicroDose Mammography has fast throughput, customized workflow and improved ergonomics. This ensures safe, stress-free and quick examinations for the patients. The radiologists receive the results quicker and the radiographers benefit from an improved ergonomic working environment.

“The next-generation Sectra MicroDose Mammography, combined with our system for management and archiving of digital breast images, enables us to offer our customers a total solution developed to fit all mammography environments, from high-volume screening to clinical mammography,” says Jesper Söderqvist, President of Sectra’s mammography operations.

The new system incorporates photon-counting technology, gives higher image quality, lower dose and has fundamental advantages in several future advanced applications. A growing number of medical technology providers point to photon-counting as the future in medical imaging.
