Medical imaging display panel from Siemens

9 November 2006  Deutsch Español

Siemens has introduced a new flat-panel display for medical imaging. With up to 400 candelas/m2, the new 3-megapixel SCD 21310 flat panel display is especially bright and high-contrast.

The high-resolution 21" display from Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) is suitable for colour displays as well as for hybrid applications with colour and gray-scale displays. The display gives constant luminance over a typical service life of 10,000 hours, corresponding to approximately five years. The backlighting of the new display has a service life of 50,000 hours.

The Siemens SCD 21310 flat panel displayThe monitor is pre-calibrated at the factory and has fully automated stability in compliance with the Dicom standard.

Constant luminance is ensured by the additional Integrated Stability System (ISS) by means of a photo sensor in the centre of the backlighting. This sensor is automatically calibrated when the display is calibrated. With five presets, practice-oriented look-up tables, the display can be adapted to local lighting conditions and then automatically calibrated.

The stored calibration data simplify installation and maintenance: Even if the graphics card or the work computer is replaced, perhaps for upgrading, the graphics settings are retained and there is no need to re-calibrate the monitor. Users can customize display settings and carry out automated quality tests using the SMfit ACT Basics parameterization software provided.
